A note on "wedding photojournalism"

It's become a bit of a buzzword in the wedding industry, but at it's core, wedding photojournalism is about documenting what's in front of you, without interference or fabrication. Outside of direction during family photos and wedding party photos, I stick to blending in like a guest and quietly observing and documenting things as they naturally happen.

There are a million ways to "have a wedding"--and what I love most about this work is getting to experience and witness all of the different ways people form families, reclaim traditions, and publicly celebrate their partnership. Regardless of location or decor, your wedding photos won't look like anybody else's.

This type of approach is not for everybody--it requires letting go of control and allowing yourself to be seen. The hope is that you will, in turn, get to experience the fullness of your wedding without worrying about photos--and that in a few weeks, you will receive back your memories: photos that reflect what your wedding felt like, details you missed, and images that feel familiar and true.
